If Only – Geri Halliwell

The book in one sentence: The autobiography of the woman known before as Ginger Spice.

Who would you recommend it to: Strictly for former Spice Girls fans.

Best bits: The chapters narrating the peak of the band’s fame.

Juicy bits: Risqué photos of Geri topless.

Boring bits: Her navel-gazing storytelling about her wannabe childhood that runs on for several chapters.

One random review quote:

”She spares no details of her travails as a wannabe… an unsensationalised account of the Spice Girls phenomenon. It should be compulsory reading for every wannabe” — Mail on Sunday

Verdict: This book brought back a lot of personal memories – how I used to adore the Spice Girls, how I’d tried the dance routines with a friend, how I’d watch the video so many times the film was almost threadbare. But that doesn’t mean I’d fork out money for the book now.
